Here goes, my first post. I'm Jay, and I'm the founder of Junktion Salvage. "Founder" seems like such a strange thing to call myself. In reality, this journey I'm embarking on is really just one giant leap of faith. I recently quit my corporate 9-5 (and by 9-5, I mean 7-7) to pursue my passion for junk. I was unhappy, tired and fed up with making someone else's money for them. Security and fear kept me chained to that desk for far too long, and eventually I reached my limit. My goal on this blog is to chronicle my experiences with turning my lifelong passion for the discarded into my own business and self-made happiness.

Chances are, if you've made your way to my corner of the internet, you know what I mean by junk. If not, allow me to clarify. I love finding the value in things that people don't want. Yard-saling and flea-marketing have always been a hobby of mine. I love the challenge of finding things of value for cheap (or free). In the past, I have been able to make some money on the side by selling found items on eBay and at flea markets. Truth be told, I think I have a pretty good eye for this stuff. Well, I've decided to take my hobby, and make it my living.

I am stating Junktion Salavage as a clean-out and haul-away business. My early posts will chronicle my efforts in getting my business off the ground, and the lessons I learn along the way. If that particular vein of information is not your schtick, fear not, I've got big plans. In addition to sharing my entrepreneurial growing pains, I'll get getting down to the goods as well. Everything I know is based on information that comes from other junkers. There is an endless supply of people in our community who help each other out when it comes to what to look for, and the ins and outs of making it a profitable venture. This blog will serve as my small contribution to that network.

Keep an eye out for BOLO (Be On the Look Out) Items, eBay experiences, tips and tricks, and whatever else pops into my head along the way. Thanks for visiting!

-Jay
